Fight, Fight, Fight! BLOGFEST!
Right, I’ve been blogging for exactly a month and a day now, and I must say I’m hooked! But looking back at my previous blogs, I noticed a glaring lack in one of my “three joys of life”. Yep, you guessed it! Despite the name of my blog, I’ve not done much blogging about fighting–yet! Blame the fact that I’m on a month-long holiday from teaching and training, but I thought it was high time to rectify this oversight.
And so, to celebrate my first-month anniversary as a blogger, I’m organising a blogfest–on FIGHTING!! 
I’ve always found fight scenes a bit of challenge, even with (or rather, especially with) my training in karate and Wing Chun kung fu. Unlike movies, our choreography has to shine through our writing. How do we make a good fight scene come alive without confusing people with overly technical terms, such as “monkey steals the peach” or “dragon lands on toad” (OK, so I made the last one up!)? And how do we avoid falling into the trap of making the whole brawl sound like a Rock ‘Em, Sock’ Em Robots game?
This is where you come in: *kow tow* please accept me as your student, oh wise master, such that I may learn the ways of the warrior writer!

- Your entry can be anything you wish: an excerpt from your WIP, a short story, a personal account, an essay…whatever, as long as it involves a fight of some sort: gunfight, aerial dogfight, playground fight, kung fu fightin’, bare knuckles, a boxing match, a domestic, anything!
- As a courtesy, please keep your entry below 1,000 words; I don’t have a very good attention span!
- Post your entry for all to read on Tuesday, August 31st.
- Make sure you link back to this site so people can read everyone else’s entries!

Wow. You've only been here a month? Okay, I haven't seen you for long but it still seems like you've been here longer. This blogfest sounds like fun. My first blogfest I ever took part in was a fight scene blogfest back in January. It will be interesting to try it again because I don't usually write fight scenes. Should be different to add to the Cinder Story I have going. *adds to list after own blogfest*
Yep, only been here a month! It feels longer than that for me too! I've finally gotten my blog just how I like it…:) Plus, I'm like a parasitic infection; I get under your skin and it feels like you've been trying to get rid of me for longer than a month!
D'oh, and here I was thinking a fight scenes blogfest was kinda original! Ah well…I'd better remember to schedule a post for your Wordpainting blogfest. I'll be flying that day…

Okay, technically it was my second blogfest. I looked it up and "no kiss" was my first. But the other was still my first fight scene (is near the end of my angel/demon novel). While the idea may not be 100 percent original in blogfests, it's like story ideas… your approach can be different and still have its own flair.

Hi, J.C. I'm completely new to the blog scene, but Roh is pushing me to get involved in these blogfests – and they DO sound like a lot of fun…so I'm getting my feet wet.
I'm not sure about the techy parts, though. I put my blog URL up there where it says "Website"….perhaps I should have my actual website there? (It's about watercolors and facepainting…though my daughter is going to put an additional link there to my blog). So, I'll need to get help to do all the things on the list above–maybe I'll hit up Roh but I'm in for the fight scene. woot woot
